Surgery deals with surgical interventions for diseases, malformations or injuries. Since this is necessary for a variety of ailments, surgery is divided into the following specialities: general surgery, vascular surgery, trauma surgery and orthopaedics, visceral surgery (affecting the abdominal cavity), thoracic surgery (organs of the thoracic cavity except the heart), cardiac surgery, furthermore plastic surgery (changing the shape of the body, including aesthetic surgery) and finally paediatric surgery.
A chief physician will have achieved outstanding performance in a hospital or medical care centre (MVZ) in at least one of the specialities as a senior attending physician. Furthermore, a future chief physician must be able to assume personnel responsibility.

Until now, these robot-assisted systems do not make their own decisions, but depend on the direction of the physician. However, the next generation of robots has already reached the test phase on animals and the results are convincing.
Chief physicians must be informed about the latest developments and keep their clinics up to date. This also applies to the further training of the staff and the exchange with international experts. A good chief physician is the face of the clinic or MVZ as well as the guarantor of economic profit. In this position, administrative and management activities are above average.
